James Spears

James Spears is the father of pop singer Britney Spears and actress Jamie Lynn Spears. James is a former building contractor from Louisiana.

Conservatorship

Spears was given control of his daughter Britney Spears' finances and estate following her mental breakdown and two hospitalizations in January of 2008. TMZ.com reported on December 22, 2008, that a judge raised James Spears' fee for being Britneys' conservator from $10,000 a month to $16,125 a month to compensate him for extra work he has done for his daughter. Alcoholism

According to James Spears' bother, William, Spears was an alcoholic. William stated that his brother drank from morning til night and that Britney saw him drunk all the time.
