James Andrew Jones was born in Miami, Florida, on October 4, 1980, and he attended American Senior High School. He continued his education at the University of Miami, FL. In his first season with the Pacers, Jones appeared in only six games for the team. The following season, he appeared in 75 games and averaged 4.9 points. In 2005, Jones was traded to the Phoenix Suns. He was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007.
