James Garner

Actor James Garner spent the majority of his early acting career in the notable and long running television series Maverick and The Rockford Files. After suffering numerous injuries while playing rough-and-tumble parts, he decided to pursue other acting opportunities and went on to play more subdued roles in large screen films such as Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and The Notebook as well as the television series 8 Simple Rules with the late John Ritter.

80 year-old Garner was hospitalized after suffering a mild stroke at his home on May 9, 2008.

1. "I'm a Spencer Tracy-type actor. His idea was to be on time, know your words, hit your marks and tell the truth. Most every actor tries to make it something it isn't [or] looks for the easy way out. I don't think acting is that difficult if you can put yourself aside and do what the writer wrote."
2. "I came from Oklahoma. I was born and raised in the Depression. Now, you want to put some pressure on somebody, well, live through the Depression. In Oklahoma. In the dust. And then the flood followed...so studio executives don't bother me at all."
3. When asked if he would perform in a nude scene: "I don't do horror films."
