In the early hours of March 21, 2008, James Garland, a convicted sex offender, was allegedly spotted by police in Deerfield Beach, Florida, wandering naked through traffic. Officers used a Taser to subdue Garland after he resisted arrest, police said. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Garland had prior arrests in the county, most for cocaine-related charges.
