James Frain is an English actor discovered by Richard Attenborough, who later directed him in his film debut Shadowlands. Other on screen roles he has taken on include Thomas Cromwell in the popular Showtime series The Tudors and Alvaro de la Quadra in Elizabeth. But despite Frain's experience in Shakespearean stage acting, his screen credits have not been limited to similar roles; he has also appeared in 1999's Sunshine (with Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz), 2005's Into the Blue (with Paul Walker and Jessica Alba), and TV shows such as 24, Medium, The Closer, and Invasion.
Frain is active on stage as well, and has appeared in productions with the Royal Court Theater and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also taken part in productions on Broadway.
