James Cromitie is one of four men arrested on May 20, 2009 for allegedly planning to bomb the Riverdale Temple and the Riverdale Jewish Center in the Bronx, New York. New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the men commit jihad. FBI Informer

The arrests of James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen were the result of an FBI investigation with the information provided by an informer. According to an affidavit from an FBI special agent, the informer and James Cromitie originally met in June 2008 in a mosque in Newburgh, New York. Cromitie allegedly told the informer that his parents were from Afghanistan he was upset about the Afghanistan war. Cromitie also reportedly told the informer that he wanted to do "something to America" and he would go to paradise if he died as a martyr.
Several additional meetings between the suspects and the informer were held in a house in Newburgh, NY house that the FBI had bugged.BBC News: New York Terror Sting Detailed (May 21, 2009)
The four suspects planned to detonate a car with plastic explosives outside two Bronx, NY Jewish targets, the Riverdale Temple and the Riverdale Jewish Centre as well as using Stinger surface-to-air guided missiles to shoot down military planes at the New York Air National Guard base at Stewart Airport, in Newburgh.The Australian: Accused Bombers Sought Jihad (May 22, 2009)
FBI Sting

On May 6, 2009, the informer provided the four suspects weapons he claimed were obtained from obtained from Jaish-e-Mohammed. The weapons included "dummy missile and three fake explosive devices holding more than 30 pounds of inert plastic explosives."
