    Prior to playing professionally, Butler played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He started 25 games, recording 240 tackles, 10 pass deflections, seven interceptions, four forced fumbles and two blocked field goals.   • NFL Career

    After college, Butler went undrafted and signed with the New York Giants in 2005. He made his NFL debut that same year, playing in all 16 regular season games and recording 35 tackles, three pass deflections and two interceptions. Continuing with the Giants in 2007, he earned a starting spot on the roster and helped the team upset the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
