James Arthur Ray is an American author and motivational speaker. He is the CEO and President of James Ray International, a company which claims that is dedicated to helping individuals improve their lives. He also contributed to the book, The Secret.
Sweat Lodge Deaths
Ray was indicted on three counts of manslaughter relating to the deaths of three people at a spiritual retreat he hosted October 8, 2009. Twenty-one people were treated after becoming ill in a sweat lodge that reportedly was overcrowded at the Angel Valley Retreat Center. More than 60 people were packed into the sauna-like tent for more than two hours when a number fell ill.
