James and the Giant Peach

  • Based on the children's book of the same name by Roald Dahl, James and the Giant Peach uses a combination of live action and stop-motion animation to tell the tale of an orphaned boy named James Trotter who embarks on a fantastic journey with an unlikely group of companions.

    Featuring music from Randy Newman, the movie was nominated for a "Best Music, Original Musical or Comedy Score" Academy Award in 1997.

  • Plot Summary

    Young orphan James Trotter is sent to live with his wicked aunts Spiker and Sponge, who barely feed him, constantly abuse him and force him to perform chores all day. One night, James receives a bag of magical crocodile tongues from a mysterious stranger. After James accidentally spills the bag near an old peach tree, an enormous peach begins growing from one of its branches. James finds himself inside the giant peach where he meets a group of super sized bugs. With the peach as their vessel, James and his new bug friends embark on a dangerous and exciting journey to New York City.
