Jameer Nelson was born on February 9th, 1982 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He is listed as a 6 foot point guard, and weighs 190 pounds. Jameer has one son named, Jameer Jr. who has a nick name Deuce. On August 30, 2007 Jameer’s father, Floyd was reported missing after disappearing from his tugboat shop. His body was found floating on top of the Delaware River. Jameer discovered basketball in high school were he played varsity basketball. He went to Chester High School in Chester, Pennsylvania and helped his team to two PIAA state championships. He then went on to play basketball at the college level at Saint Joseph’s University. He was a true freshman, earning National Freshman of the Year award. In his junior season he had a break-out season averaging 19.7 points per game and 4.7 assists per game. He remained for his senior season and won the Naismith College Player of the Year award and the John Wooden award his senior season. He helped his team to a number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament but lost in the Elite Eight. He entered the draft in 2004 and was selected by the Denver Nuggets but traded him to Orlando for a 2005 first round pick.

In the 2009-2010 season Jameer Nelson has helped the Orlando Magic become a power house in the NBA. The Magic finished the season 59-23 and Jameer has been a big part of the success. He is the starting point guard for the Magic and has played very well. The Magic finished the NBA season second in the Eastern Conference, behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jameer has played in 65 total regular season games for the Magic and started 64 of the games he has been in uniform. He has averaged 12.6 points per game, 5.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds, playing over 28 minutes a game. He missed 5 games due to a strained right hip flexor. He suffered a torn right labrum as well, but returned in good shaped and helped the Magic to a 59-23 record.
