  • JaMarcus Russell plays professional football as the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League.

    Russell, who was absent from the beginning of the Raiders voluntary workouts in March of 2009, showed up on March 26, 2009.   • College Career

    Russell became the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers in 2005, leading the team to a 10-1 regular season record. Russel was injured in a loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. He led the Tigers to the Sugar Bowl in 2006, defeating Notre Dame and was named the Sugar Bowl's MVP.
  • Rookie Season

    After being drafted number one overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 2007 draft, Russell signed a six-year contract with the Raiders worth up to $68 million. He played in his first professional game on December 2, 2007, against the Denver Broncos, and started the final game of the season against the San Diego Chargers.
