He would eventually earn his GED and attend Mount Jacinto College and then Iowa State University where, in 2000, he would help lead the team to the Elite Eight.     Tinsley was drafted with the 27th pick in the 2001 NBA draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies. He was then traded to the Indiana Pacers. In his rookie season he would be named the starting point guard.
