On June 17, 2000, Westbrook made his Major League Baseball debut with the New York Yankees. Later that season, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians with Zach Day and Ricky Ledee for David Justice. In 2004, Westbrook finished the season with a career best 3.38 earned run average in 33 games.
