Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy Precursor Basin

This is Part 7 of our complete Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy Walkthrough, featuring Precursor Basin.

Precursor Basin

  • YouTube: Jak & Daxter - #19 Precursor Basin [2] (Time: 10:38)

  • The Precursor Basin is a wide-open moor filled with Precursor ruins. You must explore the level entirely on your Zoomer, and the limited maneuverability of the Zoomer combined with how easy it is to get lost here makes this one of the most difficult areas to navigate.

Herd the Moles Into Their Hole

  • The geologist will ask you to herd the moles underground in order to protect them from Lurkers. There are four moles, and you must chase them in such a way that they dive into their holes. It's tricky, but eventually they will all be safely underground. Once they're all safe, go back to the geologist to collect your reward.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Catch the Flying Lurkers

  • There are four flying Lurkers, and they're tough to catch. Once you find one, you must stay on its tail (literally!) and try to anticipate its moves so that you can close the distance. Cut corners if possible and jump in order to lunge forward and shred the Lurker up with your Zoomer's propeller. The fourth Lurker you catch will yield a Power Cell.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Beat Record Time on the Gorge

  • The gambler will ask you to beat the previous record time through an obstacle course. From the entrance to the basin, go immediately to the right across a checkered flag to begin the race. Use Blue Eco to increase your speed and watch out for bronze pistons and Dark Eco boxes that will slow you down. There are a lot of sharp turns here and you must complete the race in less than 45 seconds. Once you make it, go back to the gambler to get another Power Cell.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Get the Power Cell Over the Lake

  • In the second area of the basin, you'll see a Power Cell floating high in the air above a lake. To reach it, fly up a ramp near the tunnel leading to this portion of the basin and make your way across several tricky jumps and small ledges. Take your time and don't rush, or you'll have to start all over again. At the end, you'll have to floor it and execute a well-timed jump to reach the Power Cell, like you did in Misty Island.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Cure Dark Eco-Infected Plants

  • Towards the back of the basin, you'll find a patch of purple, rapidly-growing ferns. These plants have been infected by Dark Eco, so you must cure them. Nearby, you'll find a rare Green Eco vent. Charge yourself up with life energy, then go back to the ferns ASAP and fly over them to make them disappear. The ferns respawn rapidly, so this may take a few tries and you will probably have to recharge on Green Eco in order to get all the ferns. Once you cure all the ferns and fight off their rapid regrowth, a beautiful flower will appear in their wake, rewarding you with a Power Cell.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Navigate the Purple Precursor Rings

  • This game really does make you jump through hoops. When you see a purple ring of light along an upward-leading path, fly through it and another ring will appear somewhere in front of you. You must fly through about a couple dozen of these rings in order to earn a Power Cell. You have to be quick flying through these, as they will disappear after a few seconds, so be sure not to miss any jumps. Some of the rings don't appear in plain sight, so you'll have to search for them quickly and avoid panicking.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Navigate the Blue Precursor Rings

  • Once you've completed the purple ring challenge, you will have to complete a similar task with blue rings. These are spaced farther apart and are harder to find and reach, so expect a fair amount of frustration before you get this Power Cell. When you have to make tricky jumps, be especially careful not to mess them up.

  • Power Cell acquired!

Scout Fly Locations

  1. Behind a Precursor ruin just beyond the entrance to the basin.
  2. Near the mole hole.
  3. Near the beginning of the Purple Ring challenge.
  4. Near the beginning of the Blue Ring challenge.
  5. In the second area, go up a ramp to a plateau with a hole in the middle. The fly is on the right side of the hole.
  6. Along the path to the Power Cell over the lake.
  7. Underneath the plateau containing the fifth fly.
