This is Part 13 of our complete Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy Walkthrough, featuring Lava Tube and Gol and Maia’s Citadel.
Lava Tube
- You'll be traveling over molten lava once again on your way to Gol and Maia's citadel. Just like in the Fire Canyon, you'll need to keep your Zoomer from overheating if you want to make it through in one piece. Grab cooling balloons, fly over mine cart tracks whenever possible to keep away from the hot stuff, and be sure not to touch the Dark Eco crates!
Reach the End of the Lava Tube
- Lava Tube is roughly twice as long as Fire Canyon, so it will take all your skill to make it through. As before, ignore the Scout Flies on your first go and worry more about getting to the end. Fortunately, there are plenty of checkpoints to restart at if you make a mistake, so you don't have to worry about repeating the whole stage over.
- About halfway through the Lava Tube, you'll come to a large round room with several balloons spinning around the center. Grab the Yellow Eco clusters and blast the balloons in order to open the way out. Keep in mind that your Zoomer will not stop heating up in this room, so don't forget to grab cooling balloons.
- During much of the second half of the Lava Tube, you'll be on mine cart tracks, which will grant you a reprieve from the heat. Towards the end, you'll have to dodge mines and large Dark Eco crates crossing the tube on tracks. You can also blast them with Yellow Eco, if you find some. Don't stop to take a breath until you see the Zoomer pad at the end of the tunnel.
- Power Cell acquired!
Scout Fly Locations
- Just past a cooling balloon at the start, between a column and the wall.
- Just after the first jump, in plain sight.
- On a mine cart track to the left, after the halfway point (balloon room).
- In the middle of the path between Dark Eco crates and mines.
- Just before a jump past the first mine/Dark Eco crate area.
- Just after the aforementioned jump.
- Near the end of the Lava Tube, between Dark Eco crate tracks.
- Power Cell acquired!
Gol and Maia’s Citadel
Once you reach the Yellow Sage's lab (Lab? I don't see a lab...) and activate the warp gate, Keira will come through with some distressing news - Samos has been kidnapped! Gol and Maia must need him and the other sages to help them with something, and whatever it is, it can't be good. You've got to save the sages, pronto!
Gol and Maia's citadel is a massive fortress full of ugly colors and geometric shapes. In the very center of the main chamber is the evil duo's secret project - the new and improved Precursor Robot! How they got this thing out of Spider Cave is beyond me. It seems that the four sages have each been forced to build an Eco weapon for the robot. You must overcome several traps and precarious jumps in order to find all four sages and free them. Once they've been released, you'll be ready for your final confrontation with Gol and Maia!
Free the Blue Sage
- From the entrance, jump on the spinning platform and go left. You'll come to a switch activating a bridge made of multicolored tiles. These bridges are found throughout the citadel and when you step on a tile, every other tile of the same color will fall, so plan your route across carefully. Once you get across, there will be another tile bridge to the left that leads to a door.
- Through the door is a large room with square platforms that spin counterclockwise every few seconds. One of them is blasted with fire every few seconds, so don't waste time crossing it. Make your way across the various platforms in the room until you come to a Blue Eco vent - when you are charged up, you will raise a set of large platforms.
- Climb the platforms and make your way to the square ones ahead and leap onto one. These move past a flame jet assembly line style, so when your platform is under the flame jet, quickly jump off to avoid getting barbecued. Once you get through the door, smash the glass switch to deactivate the cage and free the wacky Blue Sage.
- Power Cell acquired!
Free the Red Sage
- You'll end up at the spinning platform by the entrance to the citadel again. This time, head to the right and cross another tile bridge up ahead. Past the tile bridge are several spinning platforms with pieces missing - climb them carefully to yet another bridge switch. Be especially careful crossing this bridge, as it is longer and larger than previous ones.
- In the next area, you'll be faced with a hopping Lurker ambush similar to the one in Snowy Mountain. There is a machine up ahead that generates an endless supply of these Lurkers and they won't stop coming at you until the machine is deactivated. Using the Yellow and Red Eco, fend off the Lurkers until you can fight your way to the three glass switches that control the machine. Smash all three switches to cut off the Lurker supply and finish the survivors off.
- Carefully cross the spinning platforms up ahead until you reach the glass switch. Smash it to free the jolly old Red Sage.
- Power Cell acquired!
Free the Yellow Sage
- When you come to the spinning platform at the beginning again, go left, but bypass the route you took to the Blue Sage. You'll come to another series of spinning platforms - leap across them until you come to a door.
- This next part is quite fun. After charging yourself up with Blue Eco, you'll have to blast yourself from launch pad to launch pad. Some of the pads move, so be sure not to miss. When you get past the launch pads, go through the door and smash the glass switch to free the Yellow Sage - a heavily stereotyped redneck like Boggy Billy who apparently has a sweet tooth for ottsel.
- Power Cell acquired!
Free the Green Sage
- Time to rescue cranky ol' Samos. After you free the other three sages, a staircase will appear to the upper level of the citadel. Climb up the stairs and cross yet another set of spinning platforms until you see a bunch of metallic platforms attached to arms rotating around the very center of the complex (above the robot).
- Climb from platform to platform until you get to the very top and search for the glass switch to free the final Sage!
- Power Cell acquired!
Scout Fly Locations
- Immediately to your right upon entering the citadel.
- Along the path to the Blue Sage near some Blue Eco platforms.
- On a ledge past a fragmented spinning platform along the path to the Red Sage.
- Just before the long, difficult tile bridge on the Red Sage path.
- To the left just before the launch pads on the Yellow Sage path.
- Across several ledges from the switch that frees the Yellow Sage.
- On the ledge en route to the switch that frees Samos.
- Power Cell acquired!
- After Samos has been freed, he and the other sages will take down the robot's shield, but Gol and Maia will enter the robot and man the controls after announcing their intent to remake the world with Dark Eco. I guess having them change Daxter back is out of the question. From the spot where you rescued Samos, enter the door to find a large elevator and ride it to the roof of the citadel. Grab every bit of health in the treasure chests by the Blue Eco platform, then ride it over to the Dark Eco silo and prepare to face the...
FINAL BOSS!
- YouTube: Jak and Daxter: Gol and Maia Final Boss (Time: 9:01)
- Final boss - Gol and Maia's Precursor Robot
- Blue Eco attack - From the start, Gol and Maia will ignore you and simply fire a Blue Eco beam at the center of the silo, trying to pry it open. Grab one of the Yellow Eco clusters and fire at the robot's eye using first person mode until the weapon blows up.
- UFO attack - In between the Eco-based attacks, Maia will say, "Eco can't protect you now!" before firing an exploding UFO at you. Power yourself up in the Blue Eco vent and quickly run over to the launch pad before the UFO goes nuclear, because the blast will kill you instantly unless you are out of the way. Keep in mind that each UFO explosion opens the Dark Eco silo more and more, so be careful not to fall in.
- Green Eco attack - Gol and Maia will then fire Green Eco beams into the silo, bringing several Dark Lurkers to life. Use the Yellow Eco to take care of them - don't try using your lunge or spin attacks.
- Red Eco attack - When the robot releases several red-orange firebombs, leap over the shockwaves created by their explosions and use the Yellow Eco to blast the weapons on the robot's arms as much as you can before you have to dodge Gol and Maia's attacks again.
- Yellow Eco attack - Gol and Maia's final weapon is a large Yellow Eco cannon on its arm. It will power up for several seconds before unleashing a HUGE energy blast at you. While it's powering up, grab some Yellow Eco and fire at it as many times as you can, then get ready to roll or lunge out of the way when it fires.
- After the robot's weapons have taken enough damage, all four types of Eco will combine to form a new element - White Eco! It's all over now, just grab the cluster of White Eco, ignoring the UFOs Gol and Maia release in desperation and sit back and watch Super Light-Powered Jak do his thing.
- Final Boss defeated!
