Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty
Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty were housemates on the Celebrity Big Brother TV show in January, 2007. The TV station received more than 24,000 complaints that Jade had used a bad word against Shilpa. Jade response: "She is Indian, thinking of an Indian name and only thing I could think of was Indian food. Wasn't racial at all. It was not to offend any Indian out there."Prior to that Jade was criticized for displaying a pronounced lack of knowledge for a British native. She thought that the city of Cambridge was in London, and when told that Cambridge was in East Anglia, Jade thought that was in another country, and called it "East Angular". Jade's friends said that the complaints against Jade were unfair because her speech pattern indicated exactly where she was from.
At Jade's funeral, her Bermondsey neighbors and friends created a huge flower wreath with the words "East Angular", as well as a bouquet with the words "Our Princess of Bermondsey". Bermondsey is in south London. Steven Fry called Jade "a Princess Diana from the wrong side of the tracks", which is actually a tribute to Jade.
One of Shilpa Shetty's supporters, a newscaster made remarks that most considered offensive. She stated that "a bit of good news has come in - Jade Goody has only minutes to live" and going on to state that "Jade is afraid to close her eyes for fear that she'll never wake up". YouTube: Newscast
The same newscaster later made further remarks, stating that "We have just heard that Jade Goody has died". YouTube: Newscast

She asks Jermaine if his mother is white and why Michael’s skin is white. Jermaine tells Jade about his brother’s skin condition, vitiligo, that causes pigmentation loss in the skin. Jade is curious and is hardly offensive. Being of mixed race herself, and understanding facial feature-assessment by others, Jade just had an innocent curiosity about things and really wanted to know the answer to her questions.
