  • Story

    Jade Empire is set in ancient China where vengeful ghosts walk the land and demons terrorize humans. You are a young martial artist on the verge of completing his or her training under Master Li. Early in the game, the bitter rivalry between you and another student sets of a chain of events that leads you on an adventure and a quest for the real answers. You'll be joined by several characters: Sagacious Zu, The Black Whirlwind. Jade Empire's plot takes several twists and will surprise you as to who the true enemy is.

  • Gameplay

    The game is an action RPG. All battles are done in real-time with no random encounters. The strength of the gameplay is not in its combat, but the fact that the decisions you make directly affect your character. There are two paths which you can take, that of the open palm or of the closed fist, or being a selfless hero or brute.The various choices you are given in speech and action make it pretty obvious as to which choices will affect your alignment. And to keep you consistent with your choices, the game offers exclusive skills for each path. Much of the game is completely optional and certain outcomes are mutually exclusive to the decisions you make.

    Jade Empire's combat system has responsive controls and allows you to target an enemy. You can use up to four different martial arts styles each with their own strengths and weaknesses with each having three basic moves: basic attacks, a slow unblockable attack, or an area wide attack. You can link together moves from different styles to pull off the "harmonic combos," which can kill an enemy instantly.
