Jacques Piccard Dead

  • Underwater explorer Jacques Piccard died November 1, 2008 at his home in Geneva, Switzerland. He was 86 years old. Piccard set the record for deepest underwater dive, 35,810 feet, in January 23, 1960. Piccard and Navy Office Don Wash took the dive in a submarine, the Trieste, designed and built by Piccard and his father, Auguste.
