Early References To Jacob
Although Jacob was not seen until the last episode of season five, Jacob has played a big part though most of the series. He was first mentioned in season two. He is held in high respect among the Others, who both love and fear him. One can only meet with him alone and at his request. Only a few of the Others even know where he lives on the Island. In season three, Benjamin Linus brought John Locke to see Jacob at his cabin, which was hidden deep in the jungle. When they entered the cabin it looked completely empty, but as Locke started to leave a voice whispered Help Me. The cabin then started to shake, and jars flew around the room. When Ben tried to stop the chaos he was thrown against a wall. For a moment Locke saw a shadowy figure sitting in a rocking chair.
The 1800s
During the 1800s Jacob lived beneath the statue if Taweret. One day Jacob and the Man in Black talked while watching a ship coming closer and closer to the Island. The Man in Black suspected Jacob brought the ship to the Island. It was then that the Man in Black told Jacob he wanted to kill him, he swore that one day he would find a “loophole” that would enable him to kill Jacob.
Modern Times
Starting in 1976 Jacob chose people he would later bring to the Island. He would do so by touching them. He chose James Sawyer Ford, Kate Austen, Jack Shephard, Jin and Sun, John Locke, Ilana, Sayid Jarrah and finally Hurley. Each of these people ended up on a plane that crashed on the Island.
Death
The Man in Black, disguised as Locke, convinced Ben to help him kill Jacob by telling him the after his death things would change. The two made their way to Jacob’s hidden chamber in the statue’s foot and found Jacob in his rocking chair. Jacob was not fooled by the Man in Black’s disguise, immediately recognizing him as his old enemy. Jacob brought out the that Man in Black had found his loophole. Ben confronts Jacob as to why he had been ignored for so long, he asks “What about me?”. Jacob answers simply “What about you?” and Ben loses his temper and stabs Jacob twice in the chest, and then kicks him in the fire. Jacob’s last words were to warn the Man in Black “Their Coming.”
After His Death
After Jacob died he came to Hurley. Jacob told Hurley he had to take the dying Sayid to the temple where he would be healed. When Jin came around the corner, Jacob disappeared. Later Jacob came to Hurley again to instruct him to take Jack to the Lighthouse. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jacob
