Jack Skellington is the main character in Tim Burton's 1993 stop-motion animated musical film The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Tall and extremely thin, Skellington wears a black pinstriped suit with a bat tie. His ghost dog Zero, who has a glowing red nose, is rarely far from his side. Skellington can remove his head, which he seems fond of doing, especially while quoting Shakespeare or singing.

As the protagonist in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington is bored and disillusioned with the daily Halloween celebrations in Halloween Town. Jack stumbles across another world, where he discovers Christmas. Enamored with the idea of a new holiday, Skellington sets out on a mission to bring the Christmas spirit to the citizens of Halloween Town. -
