Childhood
Nicholson was raised thinking that his grandparents were his parents and that he had a sister named June. In 1974 it was revealed to him that his "sister" was really his mother, a showgirl named June Frances Nicholson. Nicholson does not know who his father is.Career
After initial success behind the camera as a writer and director, Nicholson got his film break, cast as the alcoholic lawyer "George Hanson" in the hit movie Easy Rider in 1969.
