  • Childhood

    Nicholson was raised thinking that his grandparents were his parents and that he had a sister named June. In 1974 it was revealed to him that his "sister" was really his mother, a showgirl named June Frances Nicholson. Nicholson does not know who his father is.
  • Career

    After initial success behind the camera as a writer and director, Nicholson got his film break, cast as the alcoholic lawyer "George Hanson" in the hit movie Easy Rider in 1969. He has been nominated for an Academy award more than any other male in history. Nominated roles include One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Terms of Endearment and As Good As It Gets.
