Jack Brisco is a retired professional wrestler who was extremely popular in the 1970s. Brisco has won more than 14 heavyweight championships and 24 tag team championships during his career. His tag team partner was his younger brother, Gerald Brisco. In their wrestling retirement the brothers are still partners, this time in an auto body repair venture based in Tampa, Florida.
Out of high school Brisco was offered a full football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, he instead chose to attend Oklahoma State University to in order to pursue wrestling. His collegiate wrestling debut was in 1965 and he would go on to become the first Native American to win a NCAA Wrestling Championship.
In 1983 the Brisco brothers purchased a 90% interest in Georgia Championship Wrestling, which was operating under the programming name of World Championship Wrestling. In 1984 the Jack and Gerald would sell their interest in Georgia Championship Wrestling, for $900,000 dollars and guaranteed employment, to promoter Vince McMahon. This sale provided the base franchise that would allow McMahon’s WWE to expand its wrestling promotions and event production on a national scale.
In 2008 Jack and Gerald Brisco were both inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of some of the greatest wrestlers of all time including Andre The Giant, Bobby Heenan, Bret Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Eddie Graham and Jesse Ventura.
