IZOD Label Established
- In the early 1900s, Vin Draddy, President of New York dress manufacturer David Crystal Co., was vacationing in London, England when he discovered a tailor shop called Jack Izod's. A respected tailor, Izod made custom shirts for royalty, including King George VI of England. In fact, each shirt created by Izod featured his name and the phrase "By appointment. Shirtmaker to the King" on the label.
- Draddy had recently started a men's clothing line. Impressed with Izod's reputation, Draddy extended an offer for the exclusive right to use the Izod name. Ready to retire, the tailor accepted the offer and the brand was founded.NatFalk: Izod History
