Iyanna Washington, an Oakland student at the San Francisco Art Institute, is the woman who filmed the AC Transit Bus Fight on February 15, 2010, and placed the footage on YouTube.com.

According to her, the incident started because of a remark about shoe shining. She stated:

"The white guy was asking the black guy for a shoeshine, and I guess the black guy took it as a racist comment, like, 'Why's a black guy have to spit shine your shoes?"

In the three minute video, which was uploaded to YouTube on February 16, a 67-year old white man (called "Epic Beard Man" in many Internet postings, later identified as Thomas Bruso), wearing a shirt stating "I am a Motherf---er", and a black guy get in an argument. The argument appears to end when the bearded man moves to the front of the bus, but the black guy follows him, and tries to hit him. The white man retaliates, and repeatedly punches the black man. The black guy flees the bus, shouting "I will fuck you up".

According to a statement by AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson, the younger man's nose was broken.

The filming woman, later identified as Iyanna Washington after a succesful search by 4chan, rummages through Bruso's bag, and takes possession of it. Washington claims she never stole the "beard man"s bag, which she can be seen taking in the video, despite the video showing otherwise.

Washington spoke to CBS 5,and explained she held the bag up to the camera, but did not steal it.

"Why would I steal the guy's bag? I picked the bag up, I placed it on the seat and that was the end of that. When I got off the bus the bag was still on the bus."

On February 17, 2010 Iyanna Washington posted a new video, with herself in her dorm, explaining what happened during the AC Transit Bus Fight. She again stated she didn't have Thomas Bruso's bag, and that she was quite shocked by all comments on her previous video. She apologized for any remark that was deemed offensive, and explained she tried to show what happens in every day life.
