  • Issey Miyake established the Tokyo Miyake Design Studio in 1970 after studying graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. Issey Miyake designs are unique in that the designer embraces the concept of creating clothing from one piece of cloth. In 1988, Miyake partnered with other young designers and is working on using computer technology in knitting machines that will allow clothing to be made starting with a single thread.
