British fashion magazine editor, consultant and aristocrat Isabella Blow was renowned for her insight and ability to discover new talent. An eccentric icon in the fashion world for over two decades, Blow was rarely seen without her trademark smear of red lipstick and one of her unique hats perched atop her head.
Depression and Suicide
Throughout her life, Blow battled with poor self confidence and bouts of severe depression. Her depression exacerbated near the end of her life after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She made at least three suicide attempts between 2003 and 2006 and often told friends she wanted to die. New York Magazine: The Sad Hatter (July 16, 2007) Blow died on May 7, 2007, after drinking a lethal dose of weed killer.
Her death was something that fashion designer Alexander McQueen took extremely hard. Blow had discovered and nurtured McQueen's career. On February 10, 2010, McQueen took his own life just days after the death of his mother. Many believe that the death of his mother, combined with the still raw grief over the loss of his mentor Blow, led to his demise.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1250249/Alexander-McQueen-commits-suicide.html
