Irl Stambaugh was the former police chief of Wasilla, Alaska, until he was fired in 1997 by then-Mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin. In 2008, Governor Palin abruptly fired, without reason, Walt Monegan, head of Alaska's Commissioner of Public Safety. Monegan and others allege Palin fired him because he refused to fire State Trooper and former brother-in-law of Sarah Palin, Mike Wooten.-
