Irish Setter

- Origin: Ireland
- Lifespan: 10-14 years
- Height: 25-27 inches
- Weight: 50-70 pounds
- Extremely playful

There are two types of Irish setters, the Irish red setter and the Irish red and white setter. Both are gun dog breeds.
Health Problems

As they are energetic dogs, Irish setters commonly suffer from hip problems. They may also face problems with their eyes, thyroids, a variety of cancers and seizures. It is recommended that their long coats are brushed three times a week and groomed semi-annually.DogChannel.com: Irish Setter Dogs
Sports or Activities

Both versions of Irish setters are commonly used in hunting birds and other animals as they have a strong sense of smell and are fast runners. As family pets, they require daily exercise and enjoy running in large yards.
