  • At the company's "Let's Rock" media event, held on September 9, 2008, Apple announced the new 4G iPod Nano. The so-called "thinnest iPod ever" will retail for $149 for an 8GB and $199 for a 16 GB edition, will include iTunes Genius features, voice-recording and the new "shake to shuffle" system made possible by the accelerometer from the company's iPhone.

    Anticipation for the next generation of iPod Nano began in summer of 2008.
