Photo-editing tool iPhoto, for Mac OS X, is included in Apple's iLife Application Software suite and packaged with all new Macintosh computers. iPhoto is similar to Adobe Photoshop's album. It can be used to organize, share and perform basic editing of photos, but it does not include the advanced editing functions of a program like Adobe Photoshop.
At CES 2009, Apple introduced iPhoto '09, which included a new face recognition feature. Shortly thereafter, users discovered that the feature not only worked on human faces, but also cats'.MacLife: iPhoto's Faces Recognizes Cats (January 27, 2009)

Face Recognition
At CES 2009 Apple announced that face recognition was now part of the iPhoto software functionality. This advanced feature would allow iPhoto users to let the computer sort and group their images of people based on facial features and measurements used by the software. In January of 2009, several tech blogs reported that, contrary to original reports that the technology would only work on human faces, iPhoto's "Faces" also correctly identified cat faces.MacLife: iPhoto's Faces Recognizes Cats (January 27, 2009)
