Opening Day Woes
On July 11, 2008, the iPhone 3G went on sale in 22 countries. Some problems were reported with activation of the phones in the Apple stores. Apple officials said the problem involved iTunes software.4

Despite technical issues during the product launch on July 11, 2008, the iPhone 3G sold over a million units within three days of its release.5 The original iPhone took months to sell that amount.5
