iPhone Bricked is a term given to the iPhone after an update or hack reduces functionality. The name is also applied to phones that are unable to activate through normal methods. A partial fix for a bricked iPhone, which restores partial functionality, has been discovered.

Support for iPhone Bricked
Apple does not offer support for bricked phones that contain unauthorized software. They will support clean iPhones that become bricked by a failed software upgrade. There have however been some reports of Apple store employees having a secret fix for the issue. tried to jb my iphone so i could run my google voice on it. after being successful, it bricked. restored, now back to regular ipsw. :-(

Finally upgraded my iPhone to 3.1, jailbroke it, then bricked it by uninstalling old apps. Thankfully a full restore brought it all back
