On June 9, 2008, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the release date for the 3G iPhone during his keynote address at the 2008 WWDC conference.
Jobs said the newest generation iPhone would be available on July 11, 2008 in 22 countries.

Availability and Shipping
The new 3g iPhone is scheduled to ship out to retailers in 22 countries for a release date of July 11. However, at least one source has said the phone will not ship until July 11th.
