Sheryl Sueppel and her four children were found dead in their home in Iowa City. The bodies were found on March 24, 2008 at the home of her husband, businessman Steve Sueppel. Initial reports indicated a shooting had taken place, however further investigation concluded Sueppel's wife and four children were beaten to death. Police began a search for Sueppel and his van which was also unaccounted for. Sueppel and the van were found on Interstate 80, crashed into a concrete highway structure, in an apparent suicide.
