The Iowa River in Iowa City, Iowa rose to 31.5 feet causing hundreds of residents to be evacuated. On Sunday, June 15, 2008, residents were allowed to return to their homes temporarily to retrieve personal items. Authorities believe that it will be some time before residents can return to their homes for good.
