  • Plot

    Philadelphia Eagles coach Dick Vermeil (played by Kinnear) decides to hold open tryouts for the team. Wahlberg plays Vince Papale, a 30-year-old bartended and recently fired teacher. His wife leaves him, leaving a note telling him he will never amount to anything. Papale's neighborhood friends support him when he decides to take advantage of the open tryouts. Against the odds, Papale earns a spot on the team and is given an opportunity to play in an actual NFL game.
