Interpol is a New York City-based rock band whose rose to fame during the Post-Punk revival of the early 2000s with their mixture of indie rock, [goth]] and post punk. Despite having a British appearance, with tailored suits and dark sunglasses, the band Interpol was formed in 1998 by a group of students from New York University. They are known for Paul Banks' baritone, somber voice paired with dark, atmospheric tones, similar to Joy Division. They began by distributing 8-track recordings, but had to replace their drummer, Greg Drudy, in 2000. Turn on the Bright Lights featured the songs "Obstacle 1", "PDA", "Say Hello to the Angels", and "NYC", which helped garner international appeal, especially in Europe. In 2004, Interpol released their second album, Antics. Hits like "Slow Hands" and "Evil" were considered radio-friendly.
