Interactive Mirror

Lit Studios has created an Interactive Mirror which responds to touch. Built using some of the same technology as Lit Studios' LaserGames project, the Interactive Mirror enables the user to draw pictures, view and interact with text, and preview virtual clothing outfits. It features proximity sensors, gesturing, and both nearfield and farfield infrared.LitStudios Blog: Interactive Mirror (October 22, 2008)

The interactive mirror is patent-pending and limited information is available as to other features the finished product may have.

The Creators

The idea for the Interactive Mirror came from Alpay Kasal who works for LitStudios and Sam Ewen who is the CEO of a marketing firm called Interference Inc. Ewan says that the mirror was originally invented to be more for the use of night clubs and and at retail or entertainment events. They later discovered both the possibility and practical use of having these mirrors in the domestic environment, so they are now marketing to individuals as well as organizations.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1082111/Video-The-amazing-interactive-mirror-human-touch.html

Alplay Kasal is a visual designer who has been working in New York City for years now. He is a member of Creative COW (Creative Communities of the World) and is in the visual arts business for primarily the nightlife scene in NYC.http://forums.creativecow.net/profile/57841Kasal designed the Interactive Mirror to be simplistic so it could be used by anyone, even those who are not tech-savvy. Apparently, Kasal was inspired by seeing mirrors that had built-in LCD panels and he decided to take it a step further.http://thefutureofthings.com/pod/6961/interactive-mirror.html
