    Michaelson self-produced her first album Slow the Rain in 2005. She released her debut studio album in 2007 which was titled Girls and Boys. Not only was this album self-produced it was also released on her own label, Cabin 24 Records. Three months after releasing her debut album she won a national songwriting award which was sponsored by Mountain Stage. Shortly thereafter, Michaelson received a request by a the music supervisor from the ABC's television series Grey's Anatomy to use her song "Breakable" in an upcoming episode. The show requested several more songs and after the second song, "The Way I Am" aired, Michaelson's MySpace page began receiving 10,000 hits per day as well as her music peaked at number thirteen on iTunes pop charts. Grey's Anatomy ended their 2006 season finale with Michaelson's song "Keep Breathing" and this caused a major launch in her career. Michaelson's music was found through MySpace before her studio album release and her success has been a major breakthrough for an artist without a label.
