  • Situational Battles

In Infinite Undiscovery, exploration and battles occur in the same seamless world. This differs from other Square Enix RPG's that swoop players into a separate combat screen when enemies are encountered. For this reason, events occuring in the world when battle is engaged can influence the combat. For example, flipping a light switch while exploring a cave allows players to experience lit enemy encounters. Leave the lights off and battle takes place in the dark.IGN: Infinite Undiscovery Preview (August 14, 2008)

These real-time events can be used to give Capell, the game's hero, the upper hand. An example of this occurs when Capell and his friends find themselves fighting enemies on a beach as a tsunami approaches. Various rock outcroppings can be used to shelter the party, while enemies caught in the open take damage from the waves.Official Site: Infinite Undiscovery
