Similar to skydiving, indoor skydiving is practiced in controlled environments, both indoor and outdoor, with vertical wind tunnels. Also known as "bodyflight," indoor skydiving is perfect for the first-time diver before skydiving from an aircraft.
Locations
There are a variety of indoor skydiving facilities worldwide. In the United States, iFly is a popular west coast company, while Sky Venture is present across the nation. Researching thought Bodyflight.net will give you a wide array of skydiving locations for you to choose from in your area.
Facility Varieties
There are two versions of the vertical wind tunnels used for skydiving on land: blower/air-pusher facilities and sucker/vacuum pressure suction facilities.
Blower or air-pusher skydiving does not rely on any external configurations and can be used with or without walls. In lieu of walls, these tunnels have safety nets and air bags surrounding participants for safety.
Sucker or vacuum pressure suction skydiving is reliant on the walls surrounding the air column, working with a fan or multiple fans above or below the flight area, creating enough pressure and air speed so participants can "fly."
Pricing
While prices for indoor skydiving vary, most vertical wind tunnels charge between $5 to $20 for each minute of flight time. You will most likely have to pay extra for videos and/or photos of your experience.
