On February 11, 2009, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck the eastern region of North Sulawesi, off the coast of Indonesia. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered about 200 miles north-northeast of the town of Manado, on Sulawesi island. A tsunami warning was issued.
