The Indigo Girls are a modern Folk Rock duo made up of Singer-Songwriters Amy Ray and Emily Saliers. They have had considerable success over their 20+ year career for their unique brand of confessional songwriting and acoustic music.
Career
After getting their start in the Athens, Georgia rock scene that helped spawn fellow musicians R.E.M. and The B-52s, the Indigo Girls released their self-titled major label debut album in 1989. On the back of their hit single "Closer to Fine", the Indigo Girls became one of the stars of the early 1990s Folk scene.
