The 93rd Indianapolis 500 took place on Sunday, May 24, 2009, beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST and was broadcast on ABC. Mahalo provided live coverage of the Indy 500.
Helio Castroneves, who started the race on the pole position, won the race, with Dan Wheldon and Danica Patrick finishing second and third respectively.

Indy 500 Festivities
On the Friday before the race, two events were held, the Pit Stop Challenge and the Miller Lite Carb Day Concert. The Pit Stop Challenge is a bracket-style competition where crews change four tires and simulate a refueling of the car, competing for time. 10 teams are scheduled to compete in the 2009 event. Later in the afternoon, the Miller Lite Card Day Concert featured a performance from the rock group 3 Doors Down. -
