The unintentional loss of urine or feces is known as incontinence. Incontinence is an embarrassing disorder that many people would rather live with then discuss with physicians, family, and friends. As a result, many cases of incontinence are left untreated and unreported.
There are two main types of incontinence, urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence. Under these two main types, there are a number of subtypes.
While most cases of incontinence go undiagnosed, there is treatment for the disorder. Medications, surgery and exercises can help reduce the discomfort and embarrassment of the disorder. One should not be afraid to talk to a physician, if they are experiencing incontinence.
