Crowds began gathering for the Inaugural parade as early as 7:00 a.m. EST, on Inauguration Day 2009, in Washington, DC. The parade route began on Pennsylvania Ave, near the Capitol and ended in front of The White House.
Although the parade got a late start due to Edward Kennedy's seizure during the inaugural luncheon, the president and first lady traveled the entire parade route, stepping outside of the presidential limo to walk the parade route.ABC: Security intense for Obama's Inaugural Parade (January 20, 2009)
