In the Name of the Father is a 1993 Oscar nominated movie based on the autobiographical book "Proved Innocent" written by Gerry Conlon.
Gerry Conlon (played by Daniel Day Lewis) was accused of being an IRA member who bombed a bar in Guildford, London. He and several friends and family members, including his unhealthy father, were all brought to court and found guilty. Conlyn book chronicles his fifteen years and quest to prove his innocence with the help of British lawyer Gareth Peirce.
