• In Bruges is an Irish action-comedy film, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes, released February 8, 2008, in the US. It is the first full-length film by the Tony Award-winning London-Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. The film concerns a pair of hitmen marooned in the historic Belgian town of Bruges. The story unfolds first as a human comedy, then shifts to violence and an unexpected climax. It debuted in the US as the opening night feature at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Despite the presence of major actors and general critical acclaim (Roger Ebert gave it a 4-star review and called it "endlessly surprising"), the film remained in narrow release.

McDonagh was nominated for Best Original Screenplay Oscar for his piece.
