IMVU is a popular 3D virtual world with over 40 million registered users to date. The company advertises it as a social networking tool that allows the user to interact in a vibrant 3D environment open to chat, commerce and creation.
Unlike its counterpart Second Life, the player starts off with a room of their own to furnish as they like. Likewise, they are given game credits that allow them to purchase clothing or decorations. For those that have 3D modelling programs, they can build their own clothes and furnishings.
As for the age limit, anyone over the age of 13 years old can register. However, adults can buy a pass and verify that they are adults. This process gives them a badge that denotes them as such.
