• Ilyushin

    Ilyushin is a Russian manufacturer of airplanes including those used commercially and by the military. First founded in 1933, it was a major provider of civil and military aircraft for the Soviet Union. Today it produces civil, cargo, and military aircraft.

    January 13, 1933: Founded 1935: First Product:TsKB-26 twin-engine bomber aircraft 1936:DB-3 Fighter 1941: IL-2 Fighter and IL-4 Bomber 1950: First passenger plane: IL-12, IL-15 1956: First plane to hold more than 50:IL-18 1960:IL-62, first passenger jet aircraft from Ilyushin. 1971: IL-76 Cargo plane released. 1980: IL-86 Wideboddy. Known as Soviet 747. No incidents to date, very safe. 1989:IL-96 upgrade of IL-86, new engines, computer control systems.
